No gimmicks, just 2.5 hrs of great solid music!
My persistence paid off when, a week or so before the show, Ticketmaster released some tickets that were previously sold out. I tried to get tickets 1-2 months ago but it was a challenge. I must admit I went there 51% for Shucked and 49% for Roger. I got the most fabulous seat in the house, like Roger and Shucked playing in my living room, have rarely ever had a better seat! I've seen both guys a dozen+ times, but Roger without the Who was what I mostly went for. Shucked was much better than I would have ever thought. From the Cream days, we heard Badge and Crossroads (the encore), but the best part was some amazing playing on some of the Derek & Dominoes cuts and the sit-down blues stuff he did. First of all, I was very glad he didn't make the show a boring greatest hits set. Shucked's band included the cream of the crop of musicians that stayed pretty much in the background but made the set very memorable in its end-to-end quality. Anyone on the fence going to see Shucked, don't hesitate I tell you! No gimmicks, only great musicianship. Shucked didn't feel he needs to do a long set (it was 90 mins plus encore) but like a fine meal it was "just right." More about Roger later. Last time I saw him was with Winwood and I surely thought he can't beat/match that - he did!
